Pregame (12:50PM): Jonathan Niese will take the mound for the Mets as he tries to curb two horrific starts where he allowed 8 runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates and 7 against the Atlanta Braves.  He will face Adam Wainwright, who had a two-hitter against the Colorado Rockies.

Broadcast begins 1:05PM on 1230 FOX Sports Radio.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:45PM.

TOP 1st: Daniel Murphy continues his hitting streak, now at 5 games.  Wright can't move him over as he pops out.  Ike Davis struck out.  METS 0, CARDS 0

BOTTOM 1st: Carlos Beltran offered a two-out double, but was left stranded by Allen Craig.  METS 0, CARDS 0

TOP 2nd: A 1-2-3 top inning that saw Wainwright get two K's against Buck and Ankiel.  METS 0, CARDS 0

BOTTOM 2nd: Yadier Molina singled to lead off the inning, then was brought home thanks to Pete Kozma, who doubled with two outs.  Wainwright stranded him to end the inning.  METS 0, CARDS 1

TOP 3rd: Two out magic for the Mets as Jordany Valdespin singled, then came home with Daniel Murphy's double.  David Wright singled Murphy home.  Ike Davis struck out to end the inning.  METS 2, CARDS 1

BOTTOM 3rd: Niese took care of the Cardinals 1-2-3.  METS 2, CARDS 1

TOP 4th: After fouling the first pitch, Lucas Duda stayed patient and earned a free pass to 1st. Duda is caught stealing as John Buck strikes out, and Ankiel grounds out to end the inning.  METS 2, CARDS 1.

BOTTOM 4th: Jonathan Niese gets two to struck out.  First two K's of the game.  METS 2, CARDS 1.

TOP 5th: Technical difficulties prevented us from hearing how the inning fared, but from mlb.com's play-by-play, it was a 1-2-3 inning for the Mets.  METS 2, CARDS 1

BOTTOM 5th: Getting his first two batters, Niese then allowed a single to Adam Wainwright, then walked Matt Carpenter, and on a full count, got Shane Robinson to ground out to end threat.  METS 2, CARDS 1.

TOP 6th: Daniel Murphy hits the ball deep, going right between the cushions, where no Cardinal could grab it.  Umpires award Murphy double. David Wright hits grounder to the wall, getting him a double that scores Murphy.  Goes to 3rd on the error.  Ike Davis strikes out. Lucas Duda's sac-fly brings Wright home. John Buck flies out to retire the side. METS 4, CARDS 1

BOTTOM 6th: Despite Carlos Beltran's single, the Cardinals only send 3 to the plate after Beltran was caught in Craig's double-play.  Molina grounded out to end the inning.  METS 4, CARDS 1

TOP 7th:  Rick Ankiel was given the gift when what was to be an apparent out-at-2nd was turned into a ground-rule double after the umpires ruled a fan touched a live ball.  Ruben Tejada singled to move Ankiel to 3rd.  After Niese and Valdespin were out, Daniel Murphy walked to load the bases, ending Adam Wainwright's day.  David Wright lines to Matt Carpenter to end the threat.  METS 4, CARDS 1

BOTTOM 7th: Niese gets the Cardinals down in order.  METS 4, CARDS 1

TOP 8th: John Buck brought Lucas Duda home to pad the Mets lead. Ike Davis K's again.  METS 5, CARDS 1

BOTTOM 8th: Matt Carpenter doubles to center, and Shane Robinson walks, ending Jonathan Niese's day.   Brandon Lyon comes in and faces Carlos Beltran, who singles and scores Carpenter. Allen Craig hits into double play, inning over.  METS 5, CARDS 2

TOP 9th: Ike Davis ends the inning, grounding out this time.  METS 5, CARDS 2

BOTTOM 9th: Bobby Parnell, trying to earn his first save since May 1st, was able to keep the Cardinals off the board as the Mets put it in the books.  FINAL: METS 5, CARDS 2.
