2016 High School Football Schedule Unveiled

FOX Sports Radio 1230 announces their 2016 High School Football schedule, beginning on Friday, September 2nd with the Hoosick Falls Panthers taking on the Greenwich Witches at 7PM.   The game is the first of fourteen regular season games that will be airing on FOX Sports Radio 1230 in September and October.

The full schedule is after the jump.

Our coverage begins on September 2nd as the Hoosick Falls Panthers hope to return to the playoffs after their first absence in a long time as they travel to Greenwich to face the Greenwich Witches.  The Witches beat the Panthers on the final week of the regular season last year, cementing the Panthers to a crossover schedule for Weeks 8 and 9 instead of playoff matches.

Then on Saturday, September 3rd, it's the return to varsity football after a year's absence as the Fort Edward Flying Forts travel to Warrensburg to face the Burghers.

The following weekend features our first-ever trip to Schalmont High School, as the Glens Falls Indians face the Sabres in a possible Section 2 Championship preview.  The Sabres, having lost some talent off the team that brought them to the Carrier Dome in 2013 and 2014, hope to regain steam after being bounced out by the Schuylerville Black Horses in the playoffs.  We follow that up with our first ever trip to Granville to watch the Golden Horde take on the Greenwich Witches.

In Week 3, we travel to Scotia to see the South Glens Falls Bulldogs in action, fresh off a season filled with promise and their first sectional playoff trip in over a decade thanks in part to a huge win over Green Tech in the closing seconds last year.  Then closer to home, we check out the Queensbury Spartans to see how they adjust to life after Brett Rodriguez as they host the Amsterdam Rugged Rams, who made it to the Class A Sectional Championship last year.

A rematch is on the lineup in Week 4 as the Stillwater Warriors return to Corinth to face the Tomahawks for the first time since Stillwater's last-minute win over the Tomahawks in the Sectional Quarterfinals at Corinth Central.  Then we check in with the Hudson Falls Tigers for the first time as they host a non-divisional game against Cairo-Durham, a replacement opponent after Cohoes withdrew from varsity football for the 2016 season.

A pivotal Class B North Division match will be featured on our Friday night match, as we travel to Schuylerville for the first time to watch the Black Horses take on the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots.  Then on Saturday, we make our way up north to Whitehall as the Railroaders take on the Renssleaer Rams in a major Class D showdown.

In Week 6, a potential Class C North Division Title will be on the line as the Corinth Tomahawks host the Greenwich Witches.  And a rematch of the Class B Super Bowl will be featured on the Saturday schedule as the Glens Falls Indians host the Schuylerville Black Horses.

We stay in Glens Falls as they bring in the portable lights for their marquee match, the Jug Game against the Hudson Falls Tigers to begin our Week 7 coverage.  Then we travel to Schaghticoke as the Hoosic Valley Indians host the Lake George/Hadley-Luzerne War Eagles on Saturday Afternoon.

Coverage beyond Week 7 will depend on local teams still playing football, but we can guarantee that we will do a doubleheader for Week 8, then potentially single games for Weeks 9 and 10 if local teams remain in the tournament.

Coverage for all games will begin 15 minutes before kick-off with a comprehensive pregame show featuring coach interviews, news from across Section 2 as well as analysis of the game about to start.  We will follow each game with approximately 10 minutes of post-game breaking down that game, offer stats and look to the future.
