Saints Shock Wounded Warriors

GLENS FALLS - At the halftime, it looked like the Lake George Warriors were in good position to defend their state crown.

Up 32-19 to the Spa Catholic Saints, the Warriors spent halftime talking in the locker room.  But while the Warriors were talking about their game plans, Spa Catholic was working on their jump shots, having returned to the court with 6 1/2 minutes left in the break out of the customary 10 minutes.

Boys Basketball Sectional Quarterfinals - Day 3

Sunday's Quarterfinal games.  Good luck, teams!

CLASS A

QUARTERFINALS - All games played Sunday 2/23 at Hudson Valley Community College
8-Lansingburgh vs. 1-Scotia - 5:30PM
5-Amsterdam vs. 4-Averill Park - 1PM
6-Queensbury vs. 3-Gloversville - 2:30PM
7-Mohonasen vs. 2-Troy - 4PM

SEMIFINALS - All games played Thursday 2/27 at the Glens Falls Civic Center
5:30PM winner vs. 1PM winner - 7:30PM
2:30PM winner vs. 4PM winner - 6PM

CHAMPIONSHIP - Saturday 3/1, 7:15PM at the Glens Falls Civic Center

Analysis: Lansingburgh's weapons might not be enough to withstand the offensive power of Scotia. The 1-2 punch of Joey Cremo and Alex Sausville has yielded the Tartans the #1 offense in Section 2, and with good reasons.

Amsterdam and Averill Park could be a very compelling match.  Amsterdam has the weight of their win over Troy, but also suffers from being from the conference that shined dimly during the Class AA tournament.

Queensbury needed to play a full 32 minute game in order to get past winless Bishop Gibbons in the outbracket, and need to get a full team effort if they are to have a shot at beating Gloversville.  Gloversville has two wins over Queensbury on their resume.

Mohonasen had to pull out a close one against South Glens Falls in the outbracket, a result that leads me to wonder what they have in store for the Flying Horses.  If you remember, I had pegged Mohonasen to make it to the Glens Falls Civic Center on the weight of some of their close games against Class AA Suburban teams, but the close game against the Bulldogs makes me concerned.

Boys Basketball: Seeding Predictions

Tonight is the final day of the Boys Basketball regular season.  Tomorrow, the committee meets in Saratoga Springs to unveil the brackets for sectionals.

For several teams, tonight's games are one last chance to get the seeding committee to find in their favor when it comes time to place them in a bracket.  For others, it's a time for one last tune-up before the playoffs.

So on this, the final day of the regular season, let's take a look at where we think Section 2's teams are going to be seeded.  The predictions begin after the jump:
