Joel Wincowski announced on Twitter this morning that he will be taking his basketball talents to the University of Maryland Baltimore County starting next fall.
The senior point guard from Lake George helped carry the Lake George Warriors to the NYSPHSAA Class C title back in 2013, winning the honors of Class C Player of the Year by the NYSSWA. Last year, he scored an average of 30 points per game as he helped carry the Warriors to the Adirondack League title, but couldn't defend the state title as the Warriors were eliminated by Spa Catholic in the semifinals of the Class C Sectional tournament.
The University of Maryland Baltimore County play in the America East conference along with University of Albany, another team that was pursuing Wincowski.
Here's Joel Wincowski in the closing minute of the Lake George Warriors game against the Argyle Scots from this past January. The Lake George Warriors would prevail in overtime.
