Golden Eagles playoff hopes get washed away

Earlier in the day, it was announced that the Albany Dutchmen cancelled their game against the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dogs.

Since the Golden Eagles were playing a doubleheader, it gave Glens Falls the chance to move within a full game of the Dutchmen for the final playoff spot in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League playoffs.

The Golden Eagles tried their hardest to get the doubleheader in, enduring a 70 minute delay with the Utica Brewers late getting to East Field.  But a rain storm at 6PM made the field beyond immediate repair and left the Golden Eagles with no choice but to cancel the doubleheader.

With the season coming to an end on Wednesday, the games will not be made up.

The cancellation keeps the Golden Eagles better than two games behind the Dutchmen for the final playoff spot. With two games left in the season, it mathematically eliminates them from the playoffs, giving the third and final playoff spot to the Dutchmen.

The Golden Eagles close out the season at home against the Albany Dutchmen tonight at 7PM before hitting the road for the final game against the Newark Pilots tomorrow night.
