The Glens Falls Golden Eagles have already cancelled their game for tonight against the Amsterdam Mohawks, and will be played at a later date to be announced.
Tonight's New York Mets game against the Miami Marlins has been postponed and will be made up as a SINGLE-ADMISSION DOUBLEHEADER on September 14th, 4:10PM.
BATS SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE
The Yankees made it easy for their fans to watch the Yankees game against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. Thanks a 6-run 3rd inning, most fans were able to sleep comfortably and early knowing that the Yankees were likely to pull off their 4th win.
And thanks to Yankee pitching, the winning streak continues as they beat the Mariners 6-1 to kick off their 10-game west coast swing.
Robinson Cano's three-run blast put the Yankees in front, then Mark Teixeira contributed with a solo shot of his own as they helped Phil Hughes win his 3rd of the season and first since May 10th.
The Yankees continue their west coast swing with a late night game against the Seattle Mariners tonight, with first pitch scheduled for 10:10pm.
Meanwhile, over in Washington, the Mets were unable to play their rubber match against the Washington Nationals as rain from Tropical Storm Andrea made the game unplayable. They will make the game up as a day-night doubleheader on July 26th.
WHOOPS
A bad line change has put the Los Angeles Kings on the brink of elimination after Marian Houssa was able to fire what would become the game-winner past Jonathan Quick.
After tying the game for a 2nd time late in the 2nd period, the Blackhawks were able to gain their first lead of the game when the Los Angeles Kings were coming off a line change, all near their bench. Michal Handzus saw this, fed the puck to Hossa, and had a mostly-open net to fire the puck into as the Blackhawks won 3-2 last night at the Staples Center.
The win has the Blackhawks flying back to Chicago for Game 5 with the 3-1 series lead, and will have the chance to close the series on home ice Saturday night in prime time. (NewsChannel 13 WNYT, 8PM)
MIAMI LOSES ANOTHER GAME #1
The Miami Heat opened the NBA Finals with a 92-88 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.
Tony Parker led the Spurs with 21 points, and Tim Duncan scored 20, as they outscored the Heat 23-16 in the 4th quarter en route to the win.
LeBron James had a triple-double with 18 points, 18 boards and 10 assists in the losing effort for the Heat.
Game 2 is on Sunday night. (10ABC WTEN, 8PM)
