Shaun Marcum is finally off the winless snide.
He didn't need his best. With the aid of some sound defense and the bat of Eric Young, the Mets earned a series split against the Chicago White Sox with their 3-0 win at US Cellular Field.
Marcum allowed only 4 hits during the span of 8 innings, allowing 2 walks and striking out 2.
He also had some help on the base paths, as Tuesday's hero Alexi Ramirez got greedy and tried to steal his 2nd stolen base of the game in the 6th inning, rubbing out their lone base runner that inning. Ramirez was the only batter for the Chicago White Sox to get multiple hits off Marcum, with singles in both the 4th and 6th innings.
The win was Marcum's first of the season in 10 starts, and was the first since October 1st last year as he pitched the Milwaukee Brewers to victory over the San Diego Padres.
Next, the Mets make up a snowed out game from April with a single game in Colorado.
